WI 23rd Inf Co D. Born 9 Feb 1840 in Kviteseid, Norway, son of Saamund Aslaksen Aae and Gunild Saamundsdatter Dalen (Uncertain of parentage). He came to America with his mother and siblings on “Washington”, which arrived in New York on 5 Jul 1843. They came to Pleasant Springs Township, Dane County, Wisconsin. Civil War: Post war: He was married on 1 Nov 1865 to Ragnild Christophersdatter (1839-1873). He was married a second time on 22 Oct 1876 to Ingeborg Tostensdatter Bringa (1853?-?).
