Came to America with his parents on “Thracian”, which sailed from Gothenburg, Sweden, and arrived in New York on 31 Jul 1848. His father, who took the name “Hans Juve”, died in the gold rush, August 1859. His mother moved to Decorah, Iowa, 1860.
