Enrolled 15 Aug 1864. Mustered the same day. Recruit. Private. Said to have taken part in Sherman’s march to the sea. Discharged from the service 12 Jun 1865. Post war: In 1878, he moved to Fargo, Dakota Territory, and became a merchant in the firm of Olson & Ellison. Joined GAR 16 Jun 1885. He came to America on “Salvator”, which sailed from Porsgrunn and arrived in New York in July 1843. He came to Hartland Township, Freeborn County, Minnesota. He married Asloug (1831?-?).
