BRUGJELD, Nils Pedersen

IA 2nd Inf Co C. Residence: Leads Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin. Born 5 Jul 1835 at Balestrand, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, son of Peder Nielsen Brugjeld and Gjertrud Olsdatter Torsnes. He came to America with his parents and five siblings on “Dorothea”, which sailed from Bergen and reached New York 5 Jul 1848. They came to Dane County, Wisconsin, and then to Columbia County. Civil War: Private. Post war: Married on 14 May 1860 to Britha Olsdatter Erikson (1836-1924). They moved to a farm in High Lake Township, Emmet County, Iowa. Six children.
