Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’8½”, medium build. Enlisted for three years on 21 Aug 1862 at Primrose. Mustered 14 Oct 1862 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Private. Mustered out at Brownsville, Texas, 23 Aug 1865. Post war: Died at Hills, Minnesota before 1907. Ulvestad says he has correspondence showing Colby coming from Flaa, Hallingdal, Norway, and other correspondence showing him being from Sigdal, Norway.
