Blue eyes, brown hair, ruddy complexion, 5’5”. Drafted. Enrolled for one year on 30 Sep 1864 at Liberty, Wisconsin. Mustered at Green Bay, Wisconsin the same day. Private. Private Sorum took part in General Sherman’s March to the Sea. During the march from Raleigh to Washington, D.C., Sorum sustained injury to his right leg and hip. He was dropped from the march on May 17th at Fredericksburg. Discharged from the service for disability 2 Jun 1865. Post war: Died at Martell, Wisconsin, 18 Aug 1897, of cancer. Enlisted for three years on 28 Jan 1862 in Mitchell County and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 11 Feb 1862. Private. Sick in Union City, Tennessee, in June and in a hospital in Farmington, Mississippi, in July. Became unfit for service and was discharged from the service for disability in Cincinnati, Ohio, 9 Sep 1862. Post war: Knud and Ranvei were divorced in 1882. He married on 21 Nov 1883 Mary Sheldy Olson, who had divorced her first husband. In 1886, they were living in Otranto Station, Mitchell County. Discharged from the service as disabled 10 Aug 1864 at Jeffersonville, Indiana. Post war: He used the name “Ole G. Springen”. Died in Orfordville, Wisconsin. A woman named Jane Gullickson of Orfordville was granted a widow’s pension of $8 a month.
