Was said to have been with General Sherman on his March to the Sea. Discharged 30 Dec 1865. Post war: Moved to Pelican Rapids, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, where he opened a General Store. He was married in 1876 in Pelican Rapids to Mathilda Kruger (1848-1920). In 1883, they moved to New Rockford, North Dakota, where he worked as a watchmaker. He died in March 1898 in California.
