Born “Haaver Christensen Nundal” on 20 Jan 1844 in Årdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, son of Christen Haaversen Nundal and Anna Nagel Torstensdatter. Came to America in 1847 to Door Creek, Dane County, Wisconsin. Moved to Clayton Township, Crawford County. Civil War: Unmarried. Farmer. Age 18. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’11”. Enlisted in Marietta, Wisconsin. Mustered 31 Oct 1861. Private. Re-enlisted for three years on 5 Jan 1864 at Natchez, Mississippi. Promoted to Corporal on 4 Mar 1864. Post war: Married Bertha (1842-1915). He died 6 May 1905 and was buried in South Kickapoo Lutheran Cemetery.
