KASTERUD, Iver Pedersen

WI 25th Inf. Residence: Coon Valley, Bad Ax County, Wisconsin. From Biri, Norway. Born 1842. Came to America from Fåberg, Norway, in 1862. He was a brother to Johannes and Ole Kasterud. Civil War: Private. He first fought Indians in Minnesota. He was said to have been with General Sherman on his march to the sea. He was not sick and was not wounded in his time in service. He took part in the grand parade in Washington. Post war: He married Marie Nelson, and they had five children. Died at Ettrick, Wisconsin (before 1907). KASTERUD, Johannes Pedersen

WI 25th Inf Co K Residence: Coon Valley, Bad Ax County, Wisconsin. Born in Biri, Norway in 1837, a son of Peder Olsen and Mathea Antonette Taraldsrud. In 1851 Peder and Mathea sold Taraldsrud and bought Kastrud in Fåberg. Johannes came to America in 1860 and settled in Coon Valley in Klomstendalen. He was a brother to Iver and Ole Kasterud. Civil War: Private. Came to K Company on 10 Nov 1864. Served three years in the Army. Discharged in 1865. Post war: Lived at Ettrick, Wisconsin. Married in 1866 to Agnette Lindahl of Coon Valley. Five children. The family moved from Coon Valley to Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin in 1875. Johannes died in 1914. Agnette died in 1908. Both are buried in Ettrick churchyard, Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. KASTERUD, Ole Pedersen

WI 15th Inf. From Biri, Norway. Born in 1835 a son of Peder Olsen and Mathea Antonette Evensdatter. His parents sold their farm in Biri and moved to Kasterud in Fåberg in 1851. Ole was a brother to Iver and Johannes Kasterud. Married in 1859 to Lene Hansdatter. Came to America in 1860. Civil War: Private. Post war: Lene died in 1878 and Ole married again to Eline Haakensdatter Bergseng. Ole died in 1895 and is buried in the Coon Prairie churchyard.
