He was mustered 1 Oct 1863 and was assigned to the WI 1st Hvy Arty Co C. Private. On furlough during October of 1863. Was in the battle of Missionary Ridge. In May 1865, he was listed as being held in Knoxville, Tennessee, awaiting courts martial. Mustered out with his battery on 21 Sep 1865.
