Born “Ingebrigt Halvorsen” on 3 Dec 1824, son of Halvor Ingebrigtsen Øverböe. He was married on 13 Mar 1848 to Inger NitterJohannesdatter Rise, a widow of Halvor Torgersen Næs. The pair and her daughter, Ingeborg Marie, came from Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, on board “Augusta”, which sailed out of Bergen and reached New York on 29 Jun 1848. Enlisted for three years on 31 Aug 1862 at Freeman, Wisconsin. Mustered the same day at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Wounded 21 Jul 1864 in the charge on Cold Hill near Atlanta, Georgia. Discharged from the service 31 May 1865 at Washington, DC. Post war: Granted a pension of $4 a month because of the wound in his right leg.
