MN 10th Inf Co D. Residence: Decorah, Winneshiek County, Iowa. “Andreas Schodt Groven” was born on the Groven farm in Brunkeberg, Valders, Norway, son of Saave Aaker Groven and Anne Christine Schodt. He came to America with his parents in 1852. Lived at Wanamingo Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota. Civil War: Age 16. “Andreas Aaker Groven” interrupted his studies at Luther College in Decorah to enlist in September 1864. Mustered at Fort Snelling. Private. Lived in Newark, Kendall County, Illinois. Killed 10 Oct 1899 in an accident involving a runaway team of horses. Buried 23 Oct 1899 at West Lisbon Lutheran Churchyard, Kendall County, stone reads “d. 10 Oct 1889, age 65”.
