SEVERSON, John S.

IA 13th Inf Co E. Residence: Farmerburg, Iowa. Born April 1842 in Norway, son of Severt Munsen and Gertrude Lee. They came to America to Cambridge, Dane County, Wisconsin. John was in Iowa looking for land when he decided to enlist. Civil War: Age 22. Enlisted 7 Nov 1864 at Sioux City, Iowa. Mustered 7 Nov 1864. Private. Mustered out 21 Jul 1865, Louisville, Kentucky. Post war: Went back to Dane County and in 1868 got a farm of eighty acres and got married. In Feb 1900, he moved into the town of Cambridge and died there in August of that year.
