Virtual Galleries

Marie Løkke was born in Christiana (Oslo), Norway in 1876. She studied art in Christiana and Dresden before emigrating to the United States in 1902. In the early 1900s, she exhibited her art in galleries throughout the United States. In 1917, she returned to Norway but eventually came back to the United States in 1926. For the next twenty years, she divided her time between the United States and Canada. She died in Oslo in 1948.

This painting was part of the exhibit Norsk i Amerika at Maihaugen in Lillehammer, Norway in 1989.
