Was in a hospital at Yazoo City, Mississippi, in June and July 1863 and was taken prisoner there on 13 Jul 1863. He was taken to Cairo, Illinois, and there on 17 Aug 1863, he enlisted in the IL 58th Inf and served until his muster out on 1 Apr 1866 at Montgomery, Alabama.
