WI 7th Inf Co K. Residence; Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin. Born in Bergen, Norway. Civil War: Farmer. Age 31. Blue eyes, light hair, light complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years on 12 Aug 1861 at Beloit. Mustered 2 Sep 1861 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Took part in the battles of Bull Run, Virginia; South Mountain; Antietam, Maryland; Fredericksburg; Fitzhugh Crossing; Chancellorsville, Virginia; and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Taken prisoner 1 Jul 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Returned to regiment for duty on 7 Oct 1863. Died 20 Aug 1864 of disease at Sattorlee Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sources: (WHS vol 12)
