WI 15th Inf Co F. Residence: Manitowoc County, Wisconsin. Born 13 Jan 1842 in Valders, Norway. In 1861, he came to US, to Manitowoc. Civil War: Age 20. Unmarried. Tailor. Blue eyes, blond hair, fair complexion, 5’9”. Enlisted for three years on 16 Nov 1861 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and mustered at Madison, Wisconsin, 12 Dec 1861. Bounty $100. Private. Sick in Tullahoma, Tennessee, 2 Jul 1862 and in Nashville, Tennessee, 22 Jul 1862. He took part in the bombardment at Mississippi River Island No. 10; in the battle at Perryville, Kentucky, 8 Oct 1862; in a skirmish near Lancaster, Kentucky, 14 Oct 1862, and in the Battle of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 30 & 31 Dec 1862. Left behind sick on 2 Jul 1863 at a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. Transferred to Veteran Reserve Corps in Nashville. Sick at time of his company’s muster out. He returned to Manitowoc to work as a tailor. He married Anna Dorothy Anderson in Manitowoc in 1866. In 1879, he came to Danville Township, Worth County, Iowa, where he purchased a farm. In 1886, he was living in Kensett, Worth County. In 1915, he retired to Kensett. He died in 1924 and is buried at Elk Creek Cemetery, Worth County. Designated Corporal on 16 Jan 1862, as company was being organized. Promoted to Sergeant 1 Aug 1862. Assigned as recruiter in Nov 1863. Sick in hospital at Keokuk, Iowa, since 22 Jun 1864. Later, he was moved to a hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, and from there was mustered out on 12 Feb 1865.
